New York Suite Collection – OAK’s urban soul

An imaginary walk through the Big Apple’s neighborhoods, a journey through its most significant architecture, an immersion in the cosmopolitan and fibrillating atmosphere of the “City That Never Sleeps.” The inspiration that guided architect Marco Piva takes its cue from here, and the result is the New York Suite collection designed for OAK. A furniture line that, celebrating the refined New York style of its most exclusive residences, brings contemporary living spaces to life. The New York Suite Collection encompasses a constellation of proposals for the living and sleeping areas, including seating, upholstered furniture, tables and coffee tables, through to the king-size bed and the dressers.

Uniting them is not only the impeccable signature trait of Marco Piva, but also the same material research proposed in combinations with high tactile and visual sensory appeal. Precious materials such as walnut wood, marble, nabuk leather are declined in pure and soft forms, enhanced by the craftsmanship that is the hallmark of OAK.

Dominating the living area is the Solomon sofa, an evocative name for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum building by Frank Lloyd Wright, whose curvilinear and enveloping forms it also echoes. A sinuous interplay of lines is created between the slender but conspicuous shell and the upholstery of the seat, backrests and armrests, framed and contained by the outer profile of the structure. Next to the two- or three-seater sofa is the chaise longue that completes the series.

Soho – from the acronym for South of Houston Street – with its expanse and geometricity refers directly to the iconic neighborhood from which it borrows its name. A sideboard with a symmetrical character, rhythmic in its materials: it consists of four doors, two central ones in walnut wood and two from the outside opening in nubuck leather, divided by the central drawers.

The focal point of the living area is Central, a low coffee table around which conviviality and domestic sociability revolve, just like the large central New York park that inspires it and around which city life takes place. Dynamic and versatile, Central has a double soul: coffee table on one side and folding pouf on the other. Composite is also the material combination, between Canaletto walnut and painted metal of the base and marble top. Elegant and informal at the same time.
